Question
  • I seem to find myself running low on hbs. How do y'all keep in the money? Just need some tips and tricks.

  • I am a pixel pony hoarder and have been for quite a few real-life years. I show everything and keep a lot of neuters for my show string. Showing is where stables make a lot of hajibucks since Ammit gave us the showing bonus. All horses in a show, except the one that comes in last, will earn show points depending on the level of the class and how many horses are in it. Generally speaking, the higher the level, the more horses are entered and the more points are awarded, although Local grade classes distribute fewer points than the Regional, National, and World classes.

I have gathered up 5,503 horses (after a bit more than 200 aged out of the game at the yearly roll-over last night). Today, my point total is 1,926,022 and my showing bonus is 206,359 hbs daily. Those totals will go up as my horses are shown this coming week.

I have made you a temporary member of my horse exchange. http://www.huntandjump.com/buddy_chat.php?chatid=36

You will find three show horses with better than 1000 show points each for sale for you there. They all have the prefix BF in front of their names. I hope they will provide a lift to your nightly bonus, and will continue to do so until they age out of the game. If you keep showing them, their nightly bonuses will continue to grow.

  • Thank you so much! My show bonus sits about 1500 right now and I'm finding myself struggling to keep up.

  • It can be. Ammit keeps tossing us goodies. Since the game year here was changed to 1 real life month to keep in step with HaJ2, it's harder for me to make up the losses as my older horses age out of the game and I lose their points. My showing bonus was 238,517 on 11/30. It dropped to 206,173 last night when I lost 233 horses to old age.

  • Oh wow. Yeah, I remember when it was 2 months, I think. I lost one last night. Out of 2 20yo. My latest thing is RS. I've been trying to collect them all, or as many as I can get. We didn't have them way back when, I'm obsessed.

  • On my secondary account on hj2 I sort of a show horse exchange through the auction.

Every auction I can (lol I loose track of auctions days so not every one. I have good luck with the Tuesday auction) I open the search page and sort by total points and open every horse I can. If the hunt and jump bidder is the only bidder I bid the 2600 minimum bid. If someone else has bid I move to the next one. I want each horse to make me the most profit possible not get into a bidding war and make it harder.

At first I bid until I got the message I couldn’t bid any more. If I had time later in the day I would go back and start where I left off and keep bidding as my bids were outbid. I would also stop bidding when the horses total points were about mid range to the ones in my barn.

Now it’s not unusual for me to look at the first 75-125 horses of the search.

Once the auction is over I organize my barns by points and usually have my highest pointed horses in the extra barns farthest from my primary and work backwards so that the lowest pointed horses are in my primary barn. These I enter in the next auction (earning 2,500 min. And the horse only had to make me 100 points to have been profitable)

If you only have the primary barn I started by trimming the horses 100 points or less. This way each auction my total horses stays roughly the same but my total points goes up. The last auction I increased my daily show bonus by over 2500 points.

Breeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes

  • I used my profits to buy more barns. (The biggest I could afford)

Also a 1: 3 ratio of breeding horses to show horses helps offset the costs of breeding.

  • Thanks for that idea! That sounds like a good plan you got going there.

  • Here are some tips for things I've done:
-Buy good foals and raise them up by training them and showing them until they have a good amount of point. It can take a few weeks but I've made good money from that.
-Use rank specials even if you don't use the genes/horses and resell them for a bit more once they have more points
-Breed high quality horses and resell
-Gather high point horses and get a high daily bonus

These are things I've done :)) Hope I helped
  • I also offer ex perf broods to the public. Usually the market is flooded with norm creates there are never ex perfs that others might need for their programs.
I also have a few high point intact horses also used for brood. Cant hurt to earn double their keep :)
  • I have some ex pro mares. Most all my mares have been bred this season, only a few by me. I'm selling off low pointed horses. Starting a concentration on satin, so I'm basically keeping my high point show babies, my RS babies and my satin babies. Along with a handful of others. My daily is up to 2500 now, so I'm doing something right!
