Breeding Snowflake
-
I have a few straws from a snowflake stallion and was wondering what would get the best result. I was just wondering if I should breed him to an appy mare to get a better chance of him passing it down, or if It's be better to breed to a solid mare to get a snowflake baby. I've never dealt with snowflake any tips?
Thanl you!

Snowflake will only show up on appaloosa horses. Also, you need two copies of the gene for a horse to be defined as snowflake and a fantasy horse.
-
I might be able to be talked into selling you eggs from my snowflake mares, depending on what you’d be willing to pay. That would guarantee you a snowflake baby.
-
Snowflake only shows with the lp on appaloosa patterns ... best chance is to breed snowflake to a lp, but without the other carrying the gene it will not show. It is not testable either. One copy of the gene hetro ... no show ... two copies hom it will show ... depending on how much white the horse has.

@paradoxpheonix How much are you asking?
@Corvus Thank you the reference pictures helped a lot!
SO basically, the snowflake would only be passed down as het and would not show since there is only one. But if I bred to a snowflake the gene would be homo and would show? -
If both parents are hom snf and the foal had at least 1 Lp gene, then yes

30,000 per egg?

@Bambi207 Thank you! Makes sense now
@paradoxpheonix seems like a fair price but I just don't have those funds right now (thanks to Christmas splurging :-)) ) Thank you so much for your offer though
