Im bored.. [[Again...]]
  • So we've talked about how you came to find H&J in the first "I'm bored.." addition, so now let's talk about how your breeding goals have changed over the course of your gameplay!

    For example, mine

First started I had no idea what I was doing and was just breeding to breed

Then I wanted to focus on grullo which then changed to appaloosa which then changed to blue roan and now I'm focusing on KP, Silver blacks and Liver Chestnuts

However I also want to do Black ND1 now :D
  • I started out just breeding to breeding and wanting fun combinations.

Now I’m focusing on Appaloosas. More specifically, loudly patterned appaloosas.

I also have side projects for GP, Wild/loud Pintos (especially medicine hats), and DP. The appies get priority, but variety is the spice of life. Plus, since I’m breeding for double homozygous Appaloosas, I can always use those lines to cross fun things into my appy line.
  • started breeding for silver grullos with splash frame, however gmts and herd helpers weren't a thing yet so the best i could do at the time is a hajinc university stallion and some foundation mares that had one of the genes :)) Slowly added s+ when it was released, it used to look super cool with black and silver black before the horse portraits changed a bit. Now it looks better on other colours though!
then when w3 came out i loved that, I remember my favourite Mr Millions son was a silver brown dun w3 stud called Quantum of Solace. had to save up to breed to him a couple times :)
Same thing when wM (it was called w4 at the time and i still keep accidentally calling it that) came out, eventually i could afford to gmt a foundation stallion or 2, so i had mostly black w3 or w4 splash frames with s+. Before w4 became infinte pattern possibilities with each reroll, there were a few set patterns that were based off the manchado horses in real life, which i was also obssessed with :D

Nowadays I have wM livers, black and brown w3 and wM, dash of s+, splash and frame, and a sprinkle of KP. Recently started a new line of chinchilla when it was released which is my new favourite gene.

  • I don’t really have a set plan here, I have a small bootstrap program with a cool low-mid Star stallion that is a light boned Warmblood. Het KitM, which is growing on me... I also have a small nexus herd and a small satin program I am working on. This being a smaller barn is a little easier to focus than my bigger operation on 2 with 7 closed genes, Ice 1,5,8, satin and nexus... lol
  • I'm still fine tuning what I'm breeding for here. I know I want to do sport ponies and warmbloods, know I want to stay away from tobiano and a couple other white patterns, but not really sure what my color goal ultimately is. I wound up with an appy stallion who has thrown me some amazing foals, so I've got more spots that I was originally thinking, so I may take that and run with it and aim for dun and roan appys, with and without silver. Which was not what I was originally going for.

On HJ2, I'm pretty focused on riding horses - just pulled all my warmbloods out of pasture to keep as show horses instead. I originally started with roan, splash, dun, silver, champagne, cream, pearl, satin as the long term goal/restriction, but I keep toying with the idea of narrowing it a bit to make it easier to focus. When I have the space/funds, I also want to start a line of super tall, EE, black riding horses with no white.

On both servers, I have a small ice & nexus herd tucked away in one of the barns, just because I think it's pretty.

  • When I started out, I had no breeding goal, but I do remember being into blacks. Then I changed to grullo. I was avoiding appaloosa for a long time because of how boring it was.

Now? I love appaloosa, and I avoid tobiano as much as possible because that gene has not been updated, it is too boring now.

I breed drafts and cobs, but I also keep lighter bone if they meet my criteria. I am working brown and DP into my lines, and while I maintain distinct sire lines, they are free to mix with daughters from the other sire lines. I like seeing what I get from mixing them up.

My main long term is to have DP brown appaloosa drafts/cobs with a mix of patterns and colors. I have Splash M, I have Nexus, I have Wrong Warped, I have Axiom, I have some of the Ice genes.
  • When I started out it was black appaloosa's, that was it ... oh and just lp to lp. Got my first Bring Back the Sun mare that had been GTM'd with a blanket and that started the Bring Back the Sun Line.

Then it switched to a second set of breeding black Sab2 which just started off even more, but then I fell in love with the KIT
Then introduced the satins ... just getting a hom satin and then getting pretty hom satins

    and then Ammit ...

Introduced the snowflake, and riding horse (heavy too) which changed all the appy goals ... and satin goals ... starting to breed the older lines into riding horse (still working on that)
    ....and then .... (lol)
came along the mach, mushroom and nd1 ... so now I have different goals.

    Kit is the same still

    Snowflake is still snowflake

Its interesting how the goals have evolved and changed as new thing have been introduced, I think I'm done for a bit ... just focus on what I'm doing and starting no new projects ... yup I've said that a time or two.

  • Strangely enough, my breeding goals haven't changed all that much since I started many years ago! I started off trying to breed silver tobiano sport ponies, and have just added to that! I have now more changed to cobs since that body type was introduced, but still the vast majority of my horses are silver tobainos! I have just added all the new genes as well that have been added to the game since then! So not just tobiano but the new KIT gens, and Kp, and fantasy genes. The only bigger change was DP, I now have DP chestnuts as well (that carry silver LOL)
