Seeking Breeding Advice
-
So most of my breeding revolves around my Bootstap Pasture. I have a few even mares but not many. So my current dilemma is my 5g star Hom Nexus stallion just aged up, so of course I want to throw him in the pasture of blue mares and see how he does, and hopefully start getting more gold fillys, and of course have Nexus in my lines.
On the other hand if I throw him in the pasture solo, my beloved stallion Raxstar will only get bred a couple times this season. He is A papered so not as good as my nexus boy, but he does throw consistent blues with the occasional Gold. Another bonus his offspring/grand foals would technically be easier to sell if I desired to.
So I’m torn between throwing my Star boy in the pasture by himself. Or putting him in with Raxstar to split the mares.

I have awhile before I absolutely have to make a decision, so I’d like to hear your opinion on what you’d do. I’m not aggressively bootstrapping it’s just where I do the majority of my breeding, as long as the fillies pass BA and paper as good as their mom of better, and their PT improves I’m happy. -
I'm really partial to Raz myself - I wish my mare Whim was a little higher papered so I could breed her to him! At the end of the day though, it's really about deciding what your goals are and going for them. Good luck!

You could always pull some eggs/straws and go about it that way as well. Definitely more expensive but you could get crosses both ways.

I personally would just throw both in! You would get a variety of different foals and then you don't have to decide between one or the other. Yes, they will have less foals than if you threw one in by himself but you'll still get some good foals from each :)Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755
