I've got a liver stallion. I have a few foals from him that aren't liver, would they be het DP? Some look really dark.

B Indeed Groovy hetDP

B Indeed Cosmic hetDP

B Indeed Eureka hetDP
And then some don't.

B Indeed Cobbed hetDP

B Indeed Perfect hetDP

B Indeed a Pro hetDP

Looking over the others but this is the one I know for sure isnt because he would be Liver if he was het DP

Cobbed and Pro aren't het DP... they are just hom sooty..

The top 4 look Hom sooty and Het DP but dont quote me on that

It's a toss up with any of them I know, but I don't want to waste my time with the ones that absolutely aren't

:)) that seems to be a common problem. I've actually just got through a cull on some of my barns, so I'll have quite a few in auction tomorrow. A little bit of everything.

Let me see if I got this figured out. If a liver is a hom sooty he is only carrying a het DP, but if he's a het sooty he's carry hom DP, right?

You are right! For livers there needs to be at minimum 3 darkening genes weather that's 2 sooty and 1 DP or 2 DP and 1 sooty.. 2 and 2 would be a black liver

What makes the red tail on livers? Haven't figured that out yet. :D

@bluchrystals I have quite a few black livers if you want to check them out. Some with fire tails and some without. Starting a new line lol

Fire tails! So glad I'm not the only one who calls them that! :)) they're what I'm trying for. Got quite a few livers, some I bred, some I've bought. Can't seem to get those.

Ha, if I was half that organized I'd be happy. And looks like it might be a hidden gene. Oh, lucky me @-) I've given him the same visible genes(except for the Appy part)...it didn't work :((

The red tails are the flaxen gene.. black livers who are hom flaxen (ff) will have blond or red mane and tails

Some of the liver chestnuts have the flame tail, too. Which was what I was trying for here, but he wound up flaxen. He'll do, not perfect, but doable.

It wouldn't let me change his dense, I tried once I realized he came out flaxen. Said there was an error.

Try rerolling his image.. you might get the red tail that way

Got it! But it says to save so it's not rerolled in the future. I don't see a way to do that, is it not an option anymore?
