breeding ancestors
-
How many generations should it be before the foals have the same ancestors? I've got at least two stallions for all my lines but somewhere there going to cross. Would like to know where that would be acceptable?
-
It's all personal preference... its not something that is really frowned upon like uneven breeding
-
Yup, personal preference. Since I pasture breed, I've even ended up with having foals from half siblings. My only concern is if they pass SBA and meet my other criteria. I'm not picky about linebreeding. Just uneven pedigrees.
-
Same as above. I have many horses that are linebred or bred to their half siblings (it happens a lot in RL, too!). The only issue a lot of us have I think is with uneven pedigrees, not so much related horses being bred.
-
i never pay attention to lineage besides to breed specific genes. I always breed siblings together just to get to my goals quicker. As said above, there is no consequence to "inbreeding" in this game :)Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

So I'll be just fine with only two stallions. Thank you so much for all the answers. :)) most of the stables I follow answered my question which is awesome!
-
I do it all the time. :p
My GP line is going to be the worst, since they’ll all trace back to the one and only GP stallion I used to have. Case in point:
Bright Little Legacy
I also have only a limited number of offspring by him so there will be many common mare ancestors, too, especially in farther generations.
I did just add another app stallion to my main appy line, though., for some variance “just because.” My snowflake line is predominantly going to trace back to my one carrier stallion and 3 mares. -
I've tried to breed outside lines to start with just for that purpose. With my licenced gene studs, I've only got a few mares and studs. It's difficult to find outside breeders for them.
-
Although it has no bearing on the technical aspect of the game, I make sure that my non-bootstrap line does not share common ancestors on the main "family" tab (8 unique great-grandparents).Post edited by LenasHollywood at 2019-03-05 16:55:20
