Black Beauty ? 1994
-
If any of you horse lovers have seen the movie, Black Beauty 1994, I would like a better understanding of what happened to Ginger ( the chestnut mare) She was pull away on a cart and she looked dead. What happened, for years I have wandered. Here is a link on youtube of the scene I am talking about. (edited) ish Thank you very much. :D

I would say either a prop, or as I believe Hightower played Ginger, makeup and training. Or it could have been another stunt horse altogether.Post edited by Redbud at 2015-04-20 17:58:21Thanked by 1Abbey98

I have the movie. If you had read the book, it tells of Black Beauty seeing Ginger for the last time on a cart, being carried away. She was dead, because she had been overworked and beaten as a cart horse and not taken care of. They put it in the movie. That was one of the things that the book was written about in the first place, the mistreatment of horses. Was Rebecca Iavelli on the old forum

@KerredansCorral At the end when Black Beauty is laying by the tree and then soon goes to the frame of the three horses running together, was he having a flashback?
-
Yes, he is dreaming of how it had been when he was young and with Ginger and Merrylegs, and how lucky he was once again to have a good master, even though he no longer had his friends. Was Rebecca Iavelli on the old forum

Thats so sad. I always thought that Ginger was sleeping and in the end they were all reunited once again when I was a child. I am not into reading books, what happened to Merrylegs? @KerredansCorral
-
Merrylegs was given to a local Priest to be a cart horse for him to travel from home to church. That was the last we know about him.
You really should read the book. I have one that I have kept since I was 10 years old and I occasionally read it again.Post edited by KerredansCorral at 2015-04-20 18:29:54Was Rebecca Iavelli on the old forum

Please do not post links to any copyrighted material like that. Ever.
Contrary to popular belief, putting up notice that you don't own it offers zero legal protection, you are still violating copyright law when you do that...you are still illegally distributing their property.
And it's the owner of the forum they would come after.
I would second reading the book. I read it when I was like eight, it's not a difficult book at all.Thanked by 1Abbey98 -
You can get the book for free as a Kindle down load.
-
And you don't need a Kindle to read those - there are free reader apps for both iPhones and Android phones and also a free reader app for your computer.
-
Sorry @Gael4ce I don't even know if the video from Youtube is copyrighted to be 100% honest. I wont do it again.

To the company that made the movie. ;)

The book is very good, and very important. Black Beauty is the first full length book written from the animal's perspective completely. Also, the book is written as a lesson about how making horses drive with their head forced high by the bearing rein is cruel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bearing_rein
In fact, I need to go reread this book. I think I reread it about five years ago, but I'm sure the baby will love the horse noises and voices!
