What are Your Lines?
  • As someone who really enjoys hearing about people's various lines and breeding projects I thought making a thread where some could share their breeding goals and interests might be a fun idea! :D

Feel free to share your opinions however you want OR If you're like me and having a framework for this sort of thing is helpful:
    1) Describe your top 3 breeding projects or lines. (or less if you don't have 3)
    2) Show 1 accompanying horse for each line that you think best exemplifies your goals.

  • I'll start it off! (my lines are kind of sparse since I haven't been playing for long) :))
    1) Dark DP Bays, I started off without even knowing what DP bays looked like, but a couple of my fav creates were that dark almost purplish hue. Now that I've figured it out I've gathered an assortment of foundation mares to get the line started.
    image
    Lyra of the Tower

    2) Dapplesss! I made a tattoo for this project to keep track of all of my mystery dapples, it's not exactly a line, but I am trying to accumulate as many dapples as I can =))
    image
    HeartShaped Impact Crater

    3) nd1 group, I'm still playing around with what I'm interested in as far as a third line, but lately I've been loving nd1 @};-

    :))
  • I love this thread idea! I'm the same way! I love hearing others goals!

    Mine are KP...

Ultimate goal is KP Silver Blue Roans
Right now I do not have any Hom KP silver black/silver blue roans but my foundation and favorite horse on the game is my boy, Superstition...

    image
    NRH Superstition

My next project is Silver Blacks (eventually they will tie into the KP line...
Best representation of this is Supersition's son, Bezel..

    image
    NRH Bezel kp

My 3rd goal is Liver Chestnut.. although Sab 1 liver is my favorite so far, this girl is perfection!

    NRH Miranda
  • 1) Kit promoter
I love how it looks! I have lots of hom kp mares and studs since that's what i mainly *try* to focus on lol
I also really focus on quality with this line!
    image

    2) Kit M Liver chestnut
My ultimate goal is to improve my breeding by making it more strict. But eventually i want them to be liver kit m's.

    Hidden Deja Vu BS

    3) Leopard Appaloosa, my main goal is to get pretty mares and studs but still have good quality.

    Freckles time travel BS

    4) snowflake
This is a line i'm just starting to see how it goes, but i currently don't have a hom snowflake so i'm using Jessj's beautiful stud as an example!

    *Edit*
    5) My satin line
This is also a newer one so my main focus is to get good quality hom satin mares and studs.

  • @bluchrystals You got me there =)) Guilty as charged.

@Bambi207 Yeah every time I see people talking about their projects on different threads I just want to say.. tell me more, haha. Awesome! Superstition certainly is something special, as are his descendants, goodness, I can't wait to see the results of your hard work! Miranda is so striking!

By the way, you two plus paradox totally got me into riding horses and now there's no looking back!

  • @BreedingStable thank you! :D I hope time travel does well for you when she gets to breeding age
  • Peer pressure by example is a "horrendous" thing lol =))
When I first started it seemed everyone on this server only did warmbloods... it's getting a lot easier to find riding horses now!
  • I don't really breed for anything specific. I have all kinds of pretties in almost every non licensed form lol

  • I had to really think about this so here are my main 2 focuses right now
Line 1, Any base color Homozygous Kit Promoter, Homozygous Snowflake

    LuckyCrownsKPSF2G

Line 2 Dense Phelomin (Liver Red Dun, Liver chestnut, Chocolate Palominos mainly) with Splash M

  • Chocolate of the Sea is nice, @Jessj! I'm still in awe of Lucky Crowns, @Rutledge, he looks so good with those KP clouds.
  • This was super interesting to go through the horses and see how far I've come :D
I have my old old lines of black plus spl, frame, w3, w4, and some KP and At brown in the last few years.
Rousseau is a 4g Star stud that goes back to my past foundy stallions, he's produced well do far :)
    image

and my new-er line of liver chestnuts, starting to get some lovely *gold 3g mares and a really nice KP 4g Star colt :)

    3G Mayan Foxfire

    image
    4 SUP whiterussian KP

And my newest line is At brown or silver black/grullo chinchillas. got a really nice 3G Gold mare this season, excited for this line to grow :)

  • @Bambi207 peer pressure lol, it's not a phase mom. B-) that's really interesting to hear about warmbloods being the mainstay here early on.

@Jessj pretties indeed! Chocolate of the Sea and Bell of Conspiracy are right up my alley, but ya'll are really selling me on kp and snowflake :x I love Raxing's crazy pattern.

@RutledgeRanch oooh love the kp + snowflake combo, & that pale liver color is awesome.

@SilverCreekRanch Rosseau is gorgeous! I'm starting to attempt to mix in some kitm to my lines so it's nice seeing all of the beautiful combinations people have bred for!

Thank you all for sharing! I can't wait to see more @};-

  • I tried to keep it down, and tried to pick the best of what I'm trying for, but there are few in here that I was .... Oooo where did you come from ... and my you filled out nice .... yes, I talk to my pixel ponies, they don't judge me like my dogs do. LOL .... Sooo

My oldest line, one that got away from me but I'm backtracking and reviving. I was gifted with a Bring Back the Sun mare that had been GTM'd with LP ... she started it all and the hunt for Bring Back the Sun. Then Ammit introduced the Snowflake and the Riding Horse body .... This is the closest to the revived line ... no Snowflake yet but working on that

But that's okay because here is the snowflake

    CRVS5 FALLIN VIRTUTIS SF

Next came my Kit Promoter lines ... which were actually SB2 to start with, black SB2 was the goal, and then it was SB2, then it was Riding horse into all my older lines. My only 7th gen even bred ... so far
    image
    CRVS7 Mist Envy

My two fav foundations are in this one ... Black Ops and Wildflower as well as my two of my Secret Santa gifts Hera Eclipse and Outa My Phone Booth
    image
    CRVS6 WILDFLOWER FADES

And this is what happens when you don't pay attention ... yup there is a lot of Nanotech in this one, but this is what I'm working towards.
    image
    CRVS5 Tiny Dancer KP

Almost Done bare with me ... So I had noticed with the passing of my Splash M stallion that I had sorta "forgot" about these guys. Decided I had better fix that and fast, so I am now combining my Splash M with my Mushroom, so far its not going as well as I'd like, but I'm working on it and mashing two different lines together isn't that easy.
    image
    CRVS Magic Caffe

I got lucky and was introduced to the satin gene early into my playing, saved up and was able to get my first satin, yah he was pricey, but he opened the door for me. I bred normally forgetting I had a goal, and now back to getting my goal, to which I broke it down a bit more, because I was getting lost in what it was that I was doing. So I slpit the barns, went through the lines and put them where they were suppose to be ....

So I know so long winded, sorry about that. Its been a heck of a ride with the new genes, I'm amazed at how I was just going with the flow and now I'm back on track with the goals ... Hopefully I can stick them, but I get side tracked .... Oh and one last one cause ... I do go for the brindles ...

  • My ultimate goal is blanket appaloosas with big spots and slow-to-no varnishing. Any base color. No tobiano, limited white patterns (roan and kit m definitely okay, jury still out on the others). I don't have a good example of my own to show yet, since I only recently narrowed down what I wanted to focus on. But something similar to this girl that I found via search.

    image
    Airport Zer

I'm also currently untangling my lines - I have a stud I love that's a 3g, and I've been using him as my main stud, which means that I have a ton of 3gxFoundation babies running around. I haven't decided how strictly I want to monitor my even-ness, but I have decided I don't want it quite that lopsided.

I have an Ice line that's a mix of 1, 5, and 8. Eventually I want that to focus on primarily on Ice 8, but again, working with what I have.

Long time plans include a chinchilla line, with all the dapples. I *love* the steel grey super dappled chinchillas.

Process, have to stick to process. Oh, that's pretty. =P~ Sorry, I got sidetracked :))

Next line is Gold Cream Champagne Appies. This happens to be a line with a lot of culls. I'm going to be adding pearl to it at some point, ND1 is making an appearance, too.
    image
    B Gotcha Sunshine K

And then my two hobby lines, they get bred beginning of season, best ones kept, but nothing too serious.

Chinchilla ideal ranges somewhere between these two.

I had a few drafts I had thrown in a pasture but I'm selling those as there wasn't really an 'idea' for them. I'm keeping a few white spotted mares for my Splash M stud, but again no vision for them.
  • Well i have a lot more than 3 :))

First i have my Mushroom Line. I am breeding for Mushroom Liver Chestnuts with Sooty+, KP, and White 8 and some ND1 thrown in here and there.
    image
    HS 1G Sweet Citrus UDoKs8

Second is my Chinchilla Line. I am focusing on Silver Black/Blue Roan Chinchillas with Sooty+ and White 3 thrown in here and there. My current second gen stud is so perfect, being he got his sire's Brindle!
    image
    HS 1G Azazel Cs3

The only thing that could possibly make him even better is if he were hom chinchilla :)
    image
    HS 2G Graystripe cBs3

Third is my White Spotted Snowflake Line. I am breeding Silver Brown/Black/Bay Horses with Snowflake, White 10 and Kit M, and a little DP thrown in for my Silver Browns/Bays.

    HS 1G DragonOfStarlight

    image
    HS 1G General Steele B4N

Ok i only have 3 other main lines so I'm gonna share them too!

Fourth i have my Satin Line. In this one, i breed for Satin, Liver Chestnuts/Chocolate Palominos, White 10 and some ND1 scattered in there.
    image
    HS 1G White Noise QDKo10

Fifth is my Brown Based Buckskin Macchiato Line. I have a very very specific color i am breeding for my Macchiato line and as i said above, its brown based buckskins with macchiato and Sooty+. I made the foundation homozygous for Black (EE), Cream (CcrCcr), and Brown (AtAt) so he is sure to pass it on to every offspring. However, he is only het for Macchiato and Sooty+.
    Here is the foundation:

And the color combination i am specifically breeding for:
    image
    HS 2G 7959002 dsm

And lastly, I have my Jack Russell Line. I started this after my dad had to put down my 15 year old Jack Russell while i was out of state visiting my sister. She was 100% blind and had been for nearly a year and a half. But her senses just downspiraled and my dad thought she was having trouble hearing so he messaged me telling me to make the decision. So i told him to take her in. It was on New Year's Eve when he took her in. I never got to say goodbye and i was absolutely crushed. She had been born at our house. We had owned her mom and dad up to when they were put down and we still own her sister from another litter. So i decided to start a memorial Jack Russell Line to honor her memory. Kyra, my girl, was brown and white, very skinny/petite, but had long legs. So thats why i chose riding ponies to resemble her and the stud is a hom Tobiano Yule Log.

  • When I started out, I bred blacks and grullos. Then that segued into grullo appaloosas. Now I breed liver chestnut appaloosas and brown appaloosas with bling. My only requirements for my respective sire lines is that the stallions have inherited the LE gene from their sires. Like my Splash M sire line, and my Watercolor sire line, and so on. They also must have papered appropriately and tested superior to sire. I still get the occasional black/chestnut based horse because he/she missed out on the brown/liver, but that does not get said horse snipped if he/she inherited the other genes that I wanted. I can always breed brown or liver chestnut back in. I don't keep my stallion lines separate. I like mixing them in and seeing what I get. I like color, but I also like quality, so I keep criteria for every generation that they must meet.
  • Oooh @Corvus is it a coincidence that your oldest line is somewhat corvid-colored? And haha, the more lines the merrier, right...? :))

@ChateauAlbere That's an awesome goal, I can't wait to see how it goes in the future!

  • I have 3 lines. All lines are centered around even breeding and quality before anything else (probably why I keep almost all my horses under lock and key). I try my best to stick with Warmbloods but sometimes a Light Horse or a Draft pops up. The biggest of them being my black line.

    1) Black with bling. I try for EE black and they must progress in quality every generation.

  • I have 6 or so different lines going lol. Here are the three I have with base color goals based on my real life horses, the other lines are a mishmash of limited patterns.

    1) Flaxen liver chestnuts with chrome - started with sabino 3 which got renamed to white 8. I've added white 3, sabino 2 and some Ice. Also added a mushroom stallion recently, no 3rd gen hom mushrooms yet.
(I have a flaxen chestnut sabino mini)
    image

    2) Brown appaloosa with GP. Started as just brown with GP, but then added Lp and Snowflake. Also an occasional ice and one foundation stallion also has satin.
(I have a 'medium' bay appaloosa gelding with a 'heavy' bay appaloosa sire)
    image

    5) Black Arabians - based on my heart horse, a little black arabian mare. There's some rabicano, a little bit of sabino and I just added some nd1 but otherwise this is my plainest line.

  • Yeah, it's easy to mix my lines up because the only time I have separate lines is at the foundation level. After that, I just toss mares that passed SBA and my personal criteria into their appropriate gen pastures and throw 3 stallions that passed SBA, tested superior to sire, and my own criteria in their respective pastures and see what I get. I pasture breed, and I pasture breed by generations.
  • Thank you for the compliments on my horses, @Peachtree. I just saw them, they got lost a bit ;)

  • My main line is super colourful Appaloosas. It’s impossible to pick just one example because I don’t have any one specific colour goal beyond colour and appy. I have big spots, little spots, pintaloosas, leopards, little blankets, big blankets, few spots, snow caps, all kinds of base colours.....

Here are a few that showcase the variety a bit:
    image
    Paradox Hugs

    Paradox Hope

    image
    Paradox Cat

    image
    Paradox Fae

I have a sub line of snowflake appaloosas. It’s neither truly separate nor truly connected to my main appy line. It’s been tough to get it going, but slowly l very slowly I make progress. They’re definitely behind my main line as far quality goes. Sadly.
    image
    Paradox Melody

I also have a DP/Loud pinto line. I’m okay with solids as long as they have DP, and I may keep some other solids around, too, to try to minimize the white lethality risk. I prefer my pintos to be Medicine Hats or at least loudly patterned.
    image

    image
    2G Hear Your Song

I have a Gulastra Plume/nd1/DP line. All horses have to be at least GP carriers and may also have nd1 and/or DP.

I want to breed horses that look like the founding sire:
    image
    Paradox Bright

But I like variety so some variance in colour is okay, too. :p I’d like to eventually have a dark DP brown with homozygous GP.

I may eventually kick off a Black Sabino line. Or I’ll include those with my pintos. And I’m planning to eventually GMT another GP/nd1 (and maybe DP) stallion to add to that line.
  • My first line is my show horse line. I started using red mares with a 2g A papered stallion out of boosted stock and have just continued from there. I ended up adding Kitm to that line when I decided I wanted a bit more color in the line. Right now I’m working to add Nexus to it.

This is my best little lady from this season
    image
    UEm 7983506 Nx

My second line is my even generation horses. I’m not super picky on colors. I lean towards liver and chocolate palominos, KitM, S+, and Nd1. But it’s mostly quality horses that are even generations.
My favorite horses out of this line is M 5g Balissa Baby Girl. She’s out of my favorite mare Balissa and my favorite stallion Raxstar. She’s a little low papered thought.

  • Oh, this is hard because I have so many little projects! On my first account back in 2010/11ish, I bred for silver blacks. On this account, I've begun a series of projects. All are bred evenly and must pass SBA, regardless of color! I also breed for Riding Horses since I own a Straight Egyptian Arabian in real life (I've only ever owned Arabians in RL lol)

My largest project to date is my blingy flaxen liver chestnut line. This line includes Satin, Kit M, W10, Sb2, W3, Splash M, W8, and Mushroom (any combination of these on a flaxen liver chestnut). I am also adding nd1 to this project.

My second project revolves around Silver Black Chinchillas. I am trying to add Splash M and nd1 into this line as well as well as additional Kit genes and S+. :)
    image
    ss Stranraer 2cn

My third and newest project is an ultimate Fantasy line. Although I will likely keep my Nexus horses separate, this line will include Watercolor, Nacre, Splash M, Ice 2, Ice 8, Ice 9, Ice 13, Ice 14, Ice 15, Wrong Warp, and may also include Mushroom and Chinchilla as well as all three types of Axiom (Red, Blue, & Green)

This 2G stallion is a great example of some of the blending:

  • My first love has always been silver, so way back when I first started playing it was all about silver, especially silver tobianos, and they still dominate my lines today.

My first universtity created stallion back in 2011 I was very proud of, and he is still way back in some of my lines. I had many other silver tobianos though back then
    image
    KTU Silver Pheonix

When KP was introduced it totally suited me because of my love for most of the KIT genes, mostly the more minimal white patterns, so again most of my lines now have Kp. As the cob/draft body type came in I also moved more to cobs rather than ponies, my real life loves are cobs and ponies.

Then DP came in, which was a big change for me because up until then I stayed away from chestnut as much as possible. I tried for a while to keep an exclusive chestnut line but that was a bit much work for me, so instead I added silver to my DP chestnuts, and DP to my silvers so I could cross lines at will!

So now for the most part it's anything goes! I love all the ice genes, and really love watercolour too so they get mixed in with the DP's and the silvers to get some lovely coloured ice horses. Two of the newest genes, mushroom and chinchilla work with my lines perfectly, but do require me keeping the silver black chinchillas a bit separate from my DP mushrooms so they will likely stay small as I have to plan breedings a bit better. With both lines I still love minimal white KIT genes with Kp, I love Ice9 and ice 13 with the black silver chinchillas, so have been introducing ice to that line too. On HJ2 I have got a bit of watercolour in my chinchilla line. Satin and Sooty+ are scattered through all lines. I also have a very small line of wrong warp, which I think I'll let merge with axiom and nexus horses I have floating about. So I guess that makes 4 lines at the moment, with all having silver, DP and Kp.
Mushroom, chinchilla, wrong warp, and everything else!!!

  • @paradoxphoenix Oooh i love those apps and pintos, they are gorgeous! nd1 really looks so nice on bays too, love the colors it creates. :x

@silverstar What a pretty nexus foal she is! the somewhat subtle effect of S+ on Balissa's Baby goes so well with the kitm, what a cool combination.

Sharayah, Two Queens is a dream, she looks like a desert mirage with that satin, so many lovely horses!

@Corvus Ravens are truly majestic creatures, and so smart. I love seeing your tribute to them, the results are awesome :D

@Kintara Wow so many lovelies @-) I am adoring those color combinations, plus it's so interesting to hear about your method of mixing genes. KP has so many unique expressions.

  • Okay lol, let's see if I can successfully resurrect this thread :)) (For anyone new or those who may have missed it the first time around) Also feel free to show off any new examples you're particularly proud of, even if you posted before!

I for one would like to give an example of the lines that I described in the original post but I hadn't actually bred anything yet! Sort of a progress update!

(Definitely my favorite fillies from y83. I think they really have some awesome combos of dapples, nd1, and DP, so I'm very pleased) :x and big thank you to everyone who helped me get my projects off of the ground!
