I'm curious as to what genes specifically would be most impacted by rerolling portraits, as I've tried it a few times and never seem to get much variation. (I would give examples but I can't remember who they were at this point.) Outside of fantasy ponies I'm guessing that rerolling has the most effect on kit genes.

Is there any possibility of base color changing (such as becoming incrementally lighter or darker/different hue)? I know the genes wouldn't change.

Any white gene that has a white factor more than none basically... Dun and DP also change

Oh wow, so dapples actually come and go as well! Glad to know that it can have some effect on base colors and app too.

If you look at the reroll section, it says
"HuntAndJump.com has over 645 million genetic combination but we have quadrillions of possible ways for a horse's portrait to look. Just like in real life horse a horses gene expression can change from season to season a horses portrait can be changed on HuntAndJump too."

So while some horses seem to never change in looks with rerolls.. it's mainly because there isn't enough color modifiers for it to truly change..

@Bambi207 Wow I didn't see this until just now, if you have a silver black to spare, I am quite curious about that as I don't have one of my own. I've actually just been playing around rerolling one of my liver studs and got him some dapples, now I'm super excited!!

Wow!

So from the dapples to w20 to even the hue of her base (sometimes more yellowish, sometimes more grayish), really each of the rerolls are unique. Still testing the other two.

That first reroll from the original is beautiful! I have one that's just like it in pasture! One of the many reasons I love silver black, there's so many variants of the same gene!

Yeah, those really loud dapples were my favorite as well! I cut some of the other rerolls for brevity but I tried a few more times to see if I could get something similar again with no luck, ah well.

The second and third rerolls were almost identical but with different socks. After this one I didn't have the heart to reroll again.

The filly also got some blue eyes with that new coat! :)

Rerolling horses with the splash gene will usually pop up with blue eyes eventually. This is probably one of my dark, blue eyed horses.

@Bambi207 Wow, what a beauty! I probably wouldn't even have guessed she had splash otherwise. Actually I just noticed that I've had a few silver blacks hiding away in one of my barns this whole time :-/ so let me know if you'd like your kiddos back.

@RutledgeRanch, ooh wow he is gorgeous. As much as I'd enjoy testing him... I love his current color so much, ack! :)) Can watercolors reroll to anything or are their colors based off of parents?

I just rerolled some of my Sliver Blacks and I have more I want to do it to. I also rerolled my Dark Chocolate but forgot to take the pictures in-between cause I was drooling. :)) Buy I do have a before and after picture. I think I also have 10 or so silvers so that's going to be interesting.

I didn't screenshot but I also managed to get some dapples (after ~15 rerolls a piece lol) on these guys as well.

Watercolors can change quite a lot with rerolling. I had a WC foal come out a bright shade of _green_ when she was born. I had to reroll her more than 10 times until I got a more pleasing color.

@RutledgeRanch Wow they are so beautiful! No worries lol, I am thrilled by the rainbow avalanche :x It's cool how some look almost like normal horses, which I didn't know was possible. Plus so many pretty vivid colors, Splashed Eggplant's name is perfect :D And I'm still in love with Don't Touch It's lovely lilac color.

@Bambi207 I used to use photobucket before it went premium but I didn't need it enough to justify spending. Lately I've been using tinypic for convenience but I'm not sure how it ranks :-?

@paradoxphoenix Ooh awesome! Dark chocolates definitely have some amazing dapples. Now whenever I get dapple-less chocolate babies I'll know to try rerolling them for sure :D

@bluchrystals Basically you have to upload your image/screenshot to an image hosting website (like tinypic) which will give you an image url like this called a Direct Link for Layouts:
http:// i68.tinypic.com/309n1mt.png

So when you click the image button while writing a forum comment here and it gives you < img src="paste url here" / > you paste the url between the quotes and it'll show your image.

I added spaces so that the link and image code would let me demo, hope this made sense! @-)
