A to red papered? Positives negatives?
-
I'm really wanting KitM into my liver line and haven't found a B papered guy but found a really gorgeous A papered guy. Does anyone specifically breed A to B papers? Are there more risks with the foals getting snipped? Thanks for lookingPost edited by RutledgeRanch at 2019-03-27 10:28:16

I’ve done it before. I think the risk might be higher for failing SBA but the big thing is trying to get a superior or AGA sire without boosting the foals.Post edited by Nikkel666 at 2019-03-27 08:03:42

The risk is higher but sometimes they surprise you and pass
-
I am really tempted to just try it if I can't find a B papered stud
-
I've bred 2nd gen As to 2nd gen red papered mares, and you do get a higher percentage of foals that fail SBA, but I've always had at least one or two pass. However, whether the sons test sup to sire or not is a different matter.
-
Ahh okay thanks guys. I'll just stick to my even paper levels.

Uh I just found this 2g Liver kitm guy. I snapped him up when I saw him. If you want him I’ll sell him to you for what I paid. I usually want A stallions at 2g, so he’s not quite right for me.

@HayesStable, since Rutledge picked up Silverstar's colt, I'm curious what price you'd be looking for for your awesome little dude? He is gorgeous :xID: 247225

I always breed A papered stallions to my Red papered gen2 mares. I might get a few more snipped but the ones who pass are better quality and I'm more likely to get those gen3 blues which I like
-
Ohh thanks for the input @Kintara I may experiment with it some :D
-
In the past, getting those blue papered 3rd gens used to be special for me. Now I get them often enough that I no longer have any 3rd gen reds. I still cross Bs to Reds and get blues. Of course, I still get red papered foals, but I can afford to spay them because I get at least twenty blues. This year, I got 25 blues out of my 2nd gen pasture. I may have sold or spayed a few more blues because they were too plain.
-
I agree with the others! I very frequently breed A’s to Reds as long as they’re the same generation. I get a lot of foals that don’t pass SBA, but that happens breeding B to Red as well, lol. Now almost all of my 3G girls are Blue.
-
I have had decent luck with A to Red 2nd gen crossing, especially with pastures.
-
You all are giving me ideas to nix an entire pasture and open it for something else :-?
-
I've got a couple 2gen A's I'll be using on my red 2gens so we'll see how mine works out...in two months ;)
-
Okay guys stop it your gonna make me try this lol. =))
