A Classic Dilemma (Line Progression)
I cap my mares at 100 per generation in the pasture, and I keep a max of 9 boys for each generation.

How do YOU choose to tack your horses?
I assign backgrounds to foundation stallions, each one has a different one. His descendants get that background. That way my pedigrees do not look so drab and boring.

Are all foundations of the same paper level equally good breeders?
Indeed. In real life, Barbaro would be a great example of having several full siblings from the same sire and dam and all the foals had varying levels of talent with Barbaro being the best.

Benchmarks
I comp test the fillies to their dams and keep only the superiors. The AGAs get spayed and depending on their PT score, are either kept as show horses or auctioned off.

I breed only superiors and I don't do benchmarks, really. I find those to be a big waste of $$$ when comp testing against parents work just fine for me. Only hard rule is that my breeding stock must test superior. I start with a mix of C/Y and B…

Name ideas
OH, I'm not using DnD languages. I just wanted DnD style military unit names, if that makes sense, like Silver Spear, Icethorn, Moonshadow, etc. I dunno what naming style that would be called.

Looking for advice
I never keep AGAs as breeding stock. If they have the right PT range I want for their respective generations, I keep as show stock after spaying. The AGA rejects are spayed and go to auction.

A river name for me would be Rise of the Platte (Platte River near where I grew up in Nebraska) Running Nashua Rapids - I like Nashua because Nashua was a famous Thoroughbred racehorse that was a really good stallion.
