You are correct. Silver (Z) only shows up when they have a gene for it. If silver does not show in the genotype, they are zz (homozygous for no silver).

@LCorona It won't do anything to "Chocolate" Palominos and Livers because they're ee. Chocolate only works on EE and Ee horses.
