Need your feedback on the Irish Draught
-
Jenx is hard at work making the next BC. We are aiming for February with this one. The Irish Draught will be a medium/heavy bc. Let us know what you think and if any tweaks need to be made.

Over all it looks good, maybe add just a bit of size to adult, but I don't know what type of ID horse you are trying for. I like this type of ID. The foal looks good it could be a foal by the two horses below.
stallion example
Mare example
I like neck and head set of this bay who looks like he is a bit lighter in bone to the black stud
Nice work on the art, thank you @Ammit and team

Sorry, I am not understanding your post. I think there are some typos? Also both those images appear to be the same stallion.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Hind end looks a little light
-
Agree hind end looks a bit light, maybe a bit more of a round/cresty look to the neck? That might just be because I keep looking at the stallions. I love the look of the head/face, foal is adorable.
-
@Ammit there is one black horse, one bay horse and a grey horse, but here is the bay stallion. This horse has a nice neck and head.Post edited by RKO at 2024-01-12 07:08:11Bluegrass id:182429

Looks like you edited your post RKO :). At this point, we won't be changing our photo references. We are happy with the references we used but are happy for any feedback you have on the horse I posted. :)>-Need to contact me? Read this first.

@Ammit you are very welcome, I would like to see a cleaner throat latch (the area that connects the head to the neck) and the neck set just a tad higher on the body. The foal to me looks good, it has a nice neck and head, the hind end on foal could be a tad lower too, but the high rump may be do to were back legs are set on the foal.Post edited by RKO at 2024-01-12 07:20:28Bluegrass id:182429

Agreed about the hind end being light when compared to the front end. Something about how the neck ties into the point of the shoulder blade looks very boxy to me. Could be a matter of defining the shoulder blade a bit more with shading/shadow. I'm a bit obsessed with the ears on the foal. They're so big and adorable :xPost edited by GoldenHeartAcres at 2024-01-12 07:44:08

Couple tiny things I see.
On the adult, the withers seem a bit too far towards the back. Not sure if the back needs to start a little sooner maybe and bring the withers towards the neck.
On the adult, the front offside cannon seems thinner/lighter.
On the foal, the rear offside fetlock seems bulbous. -
I agree there is something odd about the way the withers tie into the neck , also the throat latch , and the hind end does look like it belongs to a different horse
-
Can you give more info than "odd"? Jenx won't know what that means. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.

I am agreeing with Humboldt regarding the withers, and AlAsseelStable. The throat latch needs to be moved back into the neck ( re drawn "cleaner" ) and the rumpis way to light for the front of the horse.
-
Looks great overall. I do agree that the hindquarters is a little too light. And maybe the hooves are a bit too small? The pasterns and hooves could be heavier, yet still clean like they are. The adult's head could be slightly more roman, and seeing the ridge for the eye looks off to me. I don't think we would see that from a full sideview. Or maybe just getting rid of the eye ridge would fix it and keep the nose mostly straight. The way it is makes the head seem three-quarter view at the forehead but sideview lower down. And the line of the mouth I think should point towards the poll more instead of straight up.
The foal looks pretty good, except the topline of the hip. It could be taller, rounder, smoother, and a little farther forward, like these images, just to show what I'm talking about. And maybe the pastern joints could be a little bigger and the neck a little more crested. -
Well, I wouldn't trace those pictures exactly. :P But, you know, rounder and smoother sort of like those. It's just that the connection of the hip to the back looked a little abrupt to me in the line art.
-
Just so everyone knows we tend to find photos cause more confusion than they help and the photos are seldom what we need at this stage. It is always very welcome to draw on/edit the art though as that tends to be the most helpful.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I like it, anything I'd have to contribute would just be nit picking.
-
I love the adult version, @Cavalynn!
-
I think Cavalynn did a great job on "fixing" the topline of the adult ! As well as fixing the hips of the foal !Thanked by 1Leefe

To me the ears on the foal seem a bit pointy/thin at the top. Perhaps make them a smidge fuller kinda like the adult ears?Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755
