The quest for awesome appies!
-
As a new player, my breeding has been fairly unfocused and experimental as I try to figure out what I want and how to breed quality to go with it.
But into this breeding season, I’ve started obsessing over my appaloosas. Inspired by the one homozygous snowcap I got last season who got spayed, I started on a quest for one of those. The first ones were altered, and the first unaltered just didn’t strike me.
Then I got these three:
Paradox Colours
Paradox Shine
Paradox Victory
Plus this one who isn’t really a snow cap but is still homozygous LP. And wicked cool.
Paradox Chess
Somewhere in there, I discovered how to get a leopard.
Paradox Leopard
This one got spayed. I’m still a little sad.
Paradox 7433131
Then my next quest was for a double homozygous fewspot. Many failed attempts for either a leopard or a fewspot later and.... the first one got gelded. The second one? She passed!
Paradox Blizzard
I’m looking forward to using them to develop my appy line!
Thanked by 1ChateauAlbere -
Oh! I missed one of my leopards! She’s got practically everything. Even her non-appy foals should be fun.
Paradox Superfecta -
It looks like you have a great start on creating your special homozygous appy line. Congratulations!
-
I really think you should breed for appys seeing as you have a good start. Here's my mix matched line of appys.
Fizzy Spots For Sunn
Glittered from Spook
Just A Smokey View
This girl confirms I can get a line going of this coat. I plan to do so.
Spots For DayzA
Some you might get are cloudy.
Fizzy Snow Days
Some almost completely white.
Snow from Where
And if you want to you can breed an appy with a non appy and get a chance at getting a non appy with dapples!
Fizzy Wizzy Dizzy

Sorry for putting so many up! I just think you should start breeding appys cause it can give you all kinds fun combinations. If your looking more towards appy not leopard look at some of these guys parents. With some, they really are 100% appys and have some beautiful coats on them.Post edited by Wolvevenfrost at 2018-12-07 16:32:43Thanked by 1manesandtails

They’re lovely!
I do have a pretty good start on breeding mostly appies. I’m fond of some of solids so I might keep a line going of non-appy colours that I can use for outcrossing.
Almost half of the second generation breeding foals that I have and am keeping are appy of some form. I’ll probably acquire more this season and more still next. I bought a leopard Candyappaloosa stud today. Spent way too much, but I love him. I can’t wait to see what he produces with my Candy mare! -
That stud is the one I bred to your China mare. :) I am somewhat envious that your China is appy spotted so I was greatful for the chance to use her! That filly is the first one I’ve gotten that seems to have some sort of appy colour shift going on. So she stays to show and be admired.
-
Thanks! I can't wait to see what you get through the next few months! Just like I can't wait to breed my guys and gals shown above! I think in 4 or 5 months I'm going to have some killer appys to show and sell. Only problem is...I just don't have the patience to wait! And glad you like the little girl, she is really quite adorable!
I also think I still have some more appy carrying horses to breed yet so I might show you some more of I do get some. I'm dying to just breed my horses like crazy and see all the pretty colors. It's the reason why I love appys, their so absolutely colorful!Post edited by Wolvevenfrost at 2018-12-07 21:39:12 -
Same! I lack patience and am addicted to breeding! I keep burning through my money! Lol
-
I have that problem too! And because of that I'm getting rid of a lot of horses. Thankfully most are sold but I need to sell a few more hopefully in the next few days they'll all be gone. I had way to many intact horses over show horses and found out on my other account in Haj 2 that ya just can't really grow like that. I learned the easy way there, here? I learned the very hard way and am Struggling! But I'm almost out! About to get a 30 stall barn, and with help of a good friend, I should be able to stock up on good show horses that at least will get me going. So in a few months I'm going to finally be up on my feet and breeding as much as I want if I do this; I learned on HaJ 2 from a good friend, have at least 3 show horses to every intact horse and you'll be set for life. I also learned to go in auctions (I heard Tuesdays are really good) and bid on as many high pointers until you run out of money or the horses points are at or below 100. Then in a few weeks you can do it again and then again and really stack up the points! With this I hope I never have to worry about money ever again. But, that's gonna take a few months, lol! I just want to breed without problems! :((
-
Yeah, I don’t really have that kind of ratio going on right now. :)) I don’t really have the space. I’m going to have to add another barn. Darn this game! I keep spending real money on it.
-
If I had any sort of income I'd spend it like crazy when I shouldn't. :)) That's the only problem I run into as with a whole lot of people...barn space. I finally have my 30 stall barn and some good old show horses to at least get me going so I'm much happier now!
-
Right now my problem is lack of pasture space, and that costs real money.
At least I am able to add a new 90 stall barn about every other month for more show horses. -
Woah! With real money or do you manage to earn that with game money?! Tell me your secrets, master!
I’m currently working on a deal to sell my best solid coloured stallion so I can get a new barn and do some reworking so I earn more daily. I may have to go through and thin down my breeding mares, too, but I don’t want to. -
Trust me it sucks. I dug myself into a hole that I couldn't get out of myself without help. I had to sell a lot of my favorite horses that I could barely part with. And thanks to a few good days of horses being sold I got my 30 stall barn and good old show horses thanks to a good friend that made me go from 15,000 points to 42,093 points! My daily bonus went from 1,700 to 4,506! So I'm doing good finally and can't wait to start getting more barns! Wish I can get pastures while I'm at it but I have no real money lol!
-
Right now my daily bonus is running 50,000 a day, and yes I spend game money on barns so I can earn more game money with culls from breeding my horses. It's been a gradual build up, since I've had to wait for my first few show barns to age up. I've been working on building my show string for over a year. Patience is key here.
-
Patience is not something I have in large supply. :p
But I did nearly double my points and daily bonus yesterday and I’m working on more today so hopefully that will help.
This is the first snowcap I got. Unfortunately she was spayed. She was one of my foals from last season and has earned the highest points of all of my 2 year olds so far! Apparently, even though he is only C papered and seemingly nothing overly special, I shouldn’t discount her sire as a quality sire.
Paradox Party -
Don't dismiss the C foundation stallions. They can be the start of some very good quality lines. I have two 4th gen Star stallions that have C papered stallions as at least one of their foundation sires. Their sire line papering went C - B - A then Star. All the stallions were superior to their respective sires.
-
I’m seeing that! I was initially disappointed in his foals and started chasing after by B papered foundation stallions (I sold my fanciest one, though, to fund more barns and show horses), but it looks like my C stallions will be sticking around to sire more babies for me.
-
I started playing almost three years ago and was gifted with a Bring Back the Sun mare that had been GMT'd with a blanket . I breed Lp/Lp to Lp/Lp only ... everything else is put in my KiT barns. My appies are Expro Appies against Expro Appies ... and when the snowflake genes was added I slowly started breeding in the snowflake. I am up to my fifth gen appies with snowflake (and a smaller line of liver appies with no snowflake). Right now I have put up my entire barn of Expro and Expro appies up for brood, some of these appies haven't been offered for brood before.
These are my foundation studs
CRVS1Seven Spanish Angels
CRVS1 All the Lucks ExPA
And my newest boy who through the help of a really awesome player in starting him out with the nd1 gene is gonna make some outstanding foals

Omg...their all so gorgeous!
-
Lovely appies! Would you be interested in selling straws from your liver stud?
-
I could possibly part with one of his offspring ... AppieNoSF 2G is where they are if you wanted to take a look and see if something catches your eye. If so you can private message me
-
I now have 38 foundation mares and acquired an extra stallion so now I have 3 stallions to divide between them. I have a list laid out of who I want to breed to who. Unless, of course, I decide to just let them all breed randomly in the pasture. Probably not, though. I want to make sure my warmblood mares go to my finest boned RH stallion in hopes of getting RH foals.
My stallions:
The one who started it all (along with the mares I created from the same HH)
Paradox Phantom
And my leopards:
The Candy Man Can
Tsunami Seeker
I really didn’t need to add the last one, but I realized that I could potentially end up accidentally breeding red out of my lines, and I happen to like chestnuts and want to breed in Liver so.... :p -
I have an intact colt problem. They all test equal. I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I’m hoping for a tie breaker this next season.
This one is A papered out of a non-appy mare.
Paradox Pattern
This guy stays no matter what. He is by the GP non-appy stallion that I sold. He carries GP and that stallion’s offspring are like gold to me now.
Paradox Zenith
Leopard! My favorite! Chestnut, which is helpful.
Paradox Leopard
Homozygous LP, which is great. Homozygous black and warmblood. Not as great.
Paradox Shine
Not a leopard, but still homozygous for PATN1
Paradox Undecided

You seem very committed and passionate about your focus now. I can offer you straws on this foundation stud:
PF Hidden Gates sa
While he is a WB he has some very cool genes including het sa, sooty +, nd1, kp and GP. He’s hom snowflake and at least het dp. My offer is giving you straws until you get an intact of the color you like and help you modify the baby to try to get it to be lighter boned. My only requirement is that you keep the baby and don’t abuse the lines. Let me know if you’re interested.Post edited by veetiepony1 at 2018-12-15 04:30:07 -
I am interested!
-
What is your ID I’ll send some straws
-
111PF 7498103
I modified this colt some, he’s passed SBA and is het snowflake, satin, s+, GP and KP using one of Corvus’s public riding horse mares. Let me know if you’re interested! -
I need fillies to breed my many many colts to. :p Thanks, though!
My ID is 243297
All my mares have been bred so unless I acquire more (I don’t neeeeed more foundation mares but... I might want more :D ) it might be next season before I can use them.
Oh!! Unless I use a public broodmare, I guess. Hmmmm... :p -
So. Suddenly remembering that I can use a public Broodie, I had to go off and test out my new stallion.
And got another freaking colt. Another one! Who passed breeding advice and SBA like all of my other ones. He’s a leopard. Cool. Red based cool. Grey. Not cool.
Paradox Tsunami
So now I have to decide if I’m GMTing the grey away and using him instead of my other chestnut leopard? Or geld this guy and have him be a show horse? He tests “about as good as” Paradox Leopard (my other chestnut leopard colt) and superior to his sire. Paradox Leopard tests “about as good as” his sire, though his sire is B papered (same as the colt) and this new colt’s sire is C. This colt is papered B.
So do I go with the B colt by the B sire or the B colt by the C sire? Wait and see if I get one better still?
If I use this colt on the next generations, I have to GMT the grey gene because I don’t want grey in my lines. (I was hoping the mare wouldn’t pass it. Fail. Lol I used her because she was homozygous leopard so I was Guaranteed either a leopard or a fewspot from the breeding) -
Okay. So I did create another mare and pulled and egg from her to use a straw with.
Then I bred her to my new stallion.
FILLY! Filly!
And she passed SBA.
Jackpot! I love her. Leopard and very splashy.
Paradox Avalanche -
I’m liking my new chestnut leopard stallion. I spent all the money on the Candyappleloosa leopard stallion and then this little “nothing special” chestnut leopard who was significantly cheaper is already showing him up with 2 foals. Go figure!
Next season will be interesting! -
Veetiepony, I now have 2 eggs I can use now.
...yes, I created another mare.
...I have an addiction.
Must. Make. More. Appies! -
I sent some straws.please post pictures :)
-
Chocolate Palomino colt!
Failed breeding advice. *cries a little*
Paradox Prince
Liver chestnut snowcap filly!
Failed breeding advice. *cries a little more*
Paradox Royal
This colt failed breeding advice, too.
Paradox Strike
This one forgot he’s an appy (he has LP you just can’t tell) He failed breeding advice, too.
Paradox Missing
I have one more straw, but I don’t have a mare left to use it on at the moment. Unless I wanted to use a solid mare.
Bright side, more show horses! -
And we have a winner with the last straw! She missed the DP and she only has one LP and no PATN, BUT she passed SBA!
Paradox 7501831 -
I just... keep creating more mares. And buying more. Some are 3 so won’t be breedable until next year. Hopefully next season I will be drowning in spots! :D
The more I get, the more I can afford to be picky about who gets to contribute to the next generation.
After next season, I’ll probably go through and cull broodmares who haven’t produced well enough. (Some of my mares, it will be their 3rd season) Some will be show horses, some might also stand public brood (Like those I choose not to breed again because they have no PATN gene for instance), and those that I don’t have a good reason to keep will be auctioned.
In the meantime, I just keep acquiring more....Post edited by paradoxphoenix at 2018-12-16 14:59:25 -
My favourite from last night’s create spree:
Paradox Princess
I got another leopard, too, but she got spayed.
This one looks more paint than appy, but I like that she’s Red Dun. And she does have PATN, so I like that, too.
Paradox Painted
The “twins”
Paradox Rosemary
Paradox Paintbrush
And a fun homozygous LP with PATN.
Paradox Keeper
I’ve decided not to keep a new create or buy an appy foundie that doesn’t have PATN. -
I bred to a Freaky Friday stallion and this super neat looking colt:
7507143
He somehow passed SBA, but he’s only C papered. I may still breed him when he’s old enough to see if I can get some higher papered foals for him. Whether I do or not, he’s pretty darn cool. -
Hehe I was wondering what was with my brood mares getting lots of loves lol I see the appie craze has hit, I might have to put them back up for brood next month too
-
Corvus, you’re welcome to use any of my foundation mares, though they’re mostly WB! I ended yo making the baby heavier anyway lol.
-
I stumbled across a homozygous LP Chocolate pally stud who produces really, really well. High scoring consistent foal. My first lovers and chocolates all got the snip, and the first to pass breeding advice missed the DP. But I finally got one with DP and passed breeding advice!
Paradox Hero
He’s a colt, but oh well. That just seems to be my luck. lol -
You can change him to a filly for 2 GMTs.
-
Yeah. I have to decide if I want to bother or not.
I have a suspected homozygous GP brown (non appy) filly who I want to change one of her E to e so I can get livers from her. Then I have the grey leopard colt whose grey gene I want to get rid of..... I think I have another colt, one from my little solid line, who I’d like to change an E to an e.
Basically, I’m probably going to sit on all of them until I see what foals I get next season then decide how badly I want to GMT them.
Also, the irony of making sure my apps have red so I can eventually breed a red that looks black is not lost on me. :p -
Holy crap! I got a random snowflake! How did that happen?!
Paradox Silent Night
She didn’t pass breeding advice, which is slightly disappointing, but I’m floored! She’s awesome! -
Random creates can carry Snowflake, so it looks like you lucked out! :)
-
I had no idea it was recessive! I’m really glad I didn’t geld or sell that stallion when I decided to focus on apps and got my leopard stallion! He suddenly just became much, much more valuable to me! The mare, too. Looks like she gets to stay when I go through and narrow down my breeding herd after next season. :p
-
I kind of want to breed him to all of my mares now to try to find out how many other snowflake carriers I have. Trouble is, he doesn’t carry a PATN gene, and I prefer PATN carriers (especially leopards).
Looks like I’m going to be collecting as many eggs as I can afford to. Lol
I wish there was a way to tell a carrier. -
I honestly have a lot of appies ( not sure if what your looking for but) and I really domt breed for appies at all they are kinda just mixed in with my breeding stock so I'll give a list here! If you like any feel free to ask about a price !!
